For Such a Time as This

Standard

I personally believe that the greatest moment of world chaos will in fact be the greatest moment of world-wide revival! There’s something unexplainable about chaos and fear; in essence they both are supposed to debilitate and conquer it’s victims. However, it is in these very moments of fear, uncertainty and chaos where we usually find something powerful! It was in the chaos of a fiery furnace where 3 Hebrew boys found the substance of their faith! It was in the chaos of a lion’s den when Daniel found out that the prayers of a righteous man availeth much! It was in the fear of the Egyptian army where the children of Israel found the salvation of the Lord!

As I look around our world I see the coming waves of fear as uncertainty clouds the minds of Americans both young and old. I can’t help but notice the chaotic rhythm to which our world marches; school shootings, homosexual empowerment, literalistic philosophies etc… (This is not a political rant by any stretch of the imagination) What I’m pointing to is a day when world chaos will prevail, and the church should not fear this day! Scripture gives us an incredible insight into what I’m talking about…

In the Book of Daniel we see how Godly influence in an ungodly world can not only succeed, but prosper! As Nebuchadnezzar struggles to understand a horrifying dream that he can’t even remember, he realizes that the collective intelligence of his brilliant minds are stumped. When hoped seemed lost King Nebuchadnezzar discovered a man with understanding! In Chapter 5 we find history repeating itself to some degree. Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar’s son, was having a feast with a thousand of his princes. It was during this feast, as the effects of the wine began to intoxicate him, that Belshazzar disgraces the sacred. He orders the gold and the silver from the Holy temple to be brought in and he commanded his wives, concubines and his princes to drink from those vessels. As they arrogantly and pompously drank wine from these sacred vessels they began to praise the gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood and stone. Understand God will tolerate a lot of things, but there is a line that he will not allow to be crossed! Belshazzar crossed that line…

As Belshazzar feasted and became intoxicated by pride and wine, fingers with no hand began to write on the wall, and everybody saw this. And the magicians couldn’t read it, the Chaldeans couldn’t identify the message, they even brought in astrologers to try and figure out this great mystery, but to no avail! As the king sat there the Bible says his countenance changed to such a degree that those who were there were astonished. Suddenly the Queen walked in, and proclaimed that there was a man who was anointed with a unique understanding from God!

So Daniel enters into this place and begins to explain this mystery. And just so you know, there is a mystery in this kingdom as well! But we understand that mystery! For great is the mystery of godliness, God was manifest in the flesh! The religious intellectuals of this world are quick to run to Jewish commentary and to church history to try and support their theories! But the writing is on the wall! One Lord, One faith, and One baptism!! One God and father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all!

Understand when all the councils of the world were left in confusion, there was a man of understanding in the kingdom! I’m passionately pleading with my generation, there is coming a day, when modern intellect will fail! There is coming a day when the collective ideologies of religious leaders will fail! And the intellectuals of this world will look down from their ivory tower and in confusion and they will once again ask that fateful question, men and brethren, what must we do to be saved?!  But there must be a church who has been anointed with an understanding from heaven that will stand in unison and declare the words of the Apostle Peter, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost!”

The world in which you and I live is heading down a slippery slope of sin. In their own pompous way they have convinced themselves that they are right and we are wrong, but as Belshazzar found out the writings on the wall. And I’m not afraid of the chaos of these last days! The apostolic church has been positioned like Esther, for such a time as this!

I understand in the last days perilous times shall come, but scripture also declares that in the last days God will pour out of His spirit upon all flesh! You can focus on the perils, my eyes are fixed on revival!
